    FAME < INFAMY

It pays to be famous right? Almost everyone in this planet idolizes someone who is well-known by people. These are personalities that have done something good and possess an attitude that people look up to. It’s cool to be famous; but then again, was it ever easy to be famous? Did these people ever wish they were infamous instead?

Fame is having your own reputation, and I mean a good one, being famous is being idolized, having that self-esteem that will blow your fans away, having that character that is unique, and being an eminent person. Fame may lead you to being a personality that people look up to. If you are famous then you are popular. Fame does not only happen when people see you in the television or hearing you in the radio. You can also be famous in work or in school. For example, if you are hottest and cutest guy in school, if you are the smartest, if you are a varsity player, if you are the teacher’s pet or even if you are the bitchiest person in school, then you are famous. Politically speaking, if you have done something good or bad for the country, then you might be famous as well. Does it really pay to be famous when people talk about you the wrong way? ; For example, controversial things that may destroy your reputation. They may just be jealous of what you have at that moment but at the same time, they might want you to face difficulties and eventually lose your career and become infamous. It is not easy to be talked about. But as the Gossip Girl saying goes, “You’re not famous unless you’re being talked about.”

On the other side of it, being infamous is not cool at all. You may either be notorious or people just don’t know you at all. It is not fun to be infamous, it is like you do not exist and you are invisible. In lay man’s term “LOSER” or “PROMDI.” Based on observations, infamous people are often bullied by popular people. They are often shy, they have no self-confidence to show off what they have, and often abandoned. It is sad to be infamous, but then again, you are free from gossips and controversies that may destroy your reputation. No one is mad at you because you are often neutral or invisible.

Famous or infamous? It doesn’t matter at all. All that matters is taking care of your own reputation. If it’s bad or you think it is not right, then don’t do it. Being talked about may be cool but it will never be if it is not true. It is okay to be famous but it is better to be infamous. That is my opinion. At least it can lead to having a better life and you actually concentrate on whatever your dreams are. FAME! I want to live forever!

  4. Boys and Girls, which is better?

Discrimination. Oh how I hate discrimination. It makes our world unequal and gender bias. How I wish it would be blown by the wind and the world will be back to its order again.
Boys are what every girl wants. Without them girls day would not be complete. Boys are strong. They are most likely to do heavy things than what a girl does. Boys don’t usually cry but I can say that I admire boys who cry in front of a girl and are not shy of what he is doing. It only means that they were really hurt and they gave importance to the thing that they been crying to. As we all know, boys are strong. But in spite of all these good characteristics, only few boys have the chivalry behavior. It being a gentleman, loyal, faithful, having courage, courtesy, and many more good manners.
In the other hand, a girl is a human full of emotions. They are the one who usually cry in front of others. They like being said by good things and they are easily hurt by their surroundings. Despite of this negative thing, girls are loving persons. When they love they give their whole heart and dedication. Even disobeying rules are done by those girls whom are in love. Girls are also very caring. They are also the one who can easily adapt to their surroundings. It is lucky for boys who have met a loving, a caring and an understanding girl.
So, as of now, I can say that boys need girls, and girls need boys. Each of them completes the day of their opposites. In many aspects specially physical, boys are better, but when it comes with attitude, girls rules.

  5. Is It Good or Bad?
Do you have a good taste when it comes with deciding on something? Like what you should wear, what you should eat and what you should do to your hair?
Taste in the general sense is the same as preference. It is also a sociological concept that is needed in our daily lives. There are people who have a good taste and there are also people who have a bad taste. A Person that possesses good taste is widely accepted in our society. The notion of taste in aesthetics was associated with manners and good habits that are of innate nature, and also referred to one's appreciation for beauty. Taste is a quality that is independent of the style.
Individual tastes are shaped by certain aspects of social practices and position within society. Everyone wants to be associated with those who are considered to be more developed intellectually and artistically and therefore tend to consume corresponding cultural products. Defining a good taste is so hard. Because a good taste can only be determine if the person have the same taste with his critics. Defining a Bad taste is also not that easy. It is generally a title given to any object or idea that does not fall within the normal social standards of the time or area. Varying from society to society and from time to time, bad taste is generally thought of as a negative thing, but also changes with each individual.

    IRREPLACEABLE

An excellent daughter to my grandparents, an excellent wife to my father, and an excellent mother to us, her children. I can say that she is a nearly perfect woman for us, her family. She gives us happy moments though she can also give as "nightmares" when she is mad, but still the goodness in her reigns in our thoughts, and in our hearts.

She is a mother, a teacher, and a best friend to me. She is the light that lightens our darkest days. She really loves us, takes care of us, and gives us encouraging words for us to pursue anything we want to do. She can do anything nothing is impossible for her; a superhero. No one can ever replace her.

Responsible, true, loving, caring and everything! She is very special, truly irreplaceable... That's my mom.

  7. Protasio’s Pen and Andres’ Pistol

It is widely acknowledge that the Philippine’s national hero is Dr. José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda, the author of books and compositions that woke the sleeping Filipino nationalism against the Spanish colonial rule in the late 19th century. But why do others claim it must be Andrés Bonifacio y de Castro to be the rightful owner of the title? Is it because Andrés Bonifacio y de Castro used the power of his fist and sword rather than the power of pen like what Rizal did?

José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda, or commonly known as Dr. Jose Rizal, was born on June 19, 1861, in the town of Calamba, Laguna. With great parents (Francisco Mercado Rizal and Teodora Alonzo y Quintos) to support him even though he is the 7th child of their 11 children namely Saturnina, Paciano, Narcisa, Olimpia, Lucia, Maria, Concepcion, Josefa, Trinidad and Soledad, he never had a problem with his family. At the age of three, he learned his alphabets with his mother as his teacher that at the age of five, Jose Rizal started to show his passion as an artist. He flabbergasted his family as he shows to them his skills at his young age like in drawing, writing light compositions or his clay structure. He started to show his talent in writing when he was at the age of eight, the year he wrote his first composition "Sa Aking Mga Kabata," the theme of which revolves on the love of one’s language. These skills became more enhanced as he grew older, as he travelled from one country to another country and become an architect, artists, businessman, cartoonist, educator, economist, ethnologist, scientific farmer, historian, inventor, journalist, linguist, musician, mythologist, nationalist, naturalist, novelist, ophthalmic surgeon, poet, propagandist, psychologist, scientist, sculptor, sociologist, and theologian. Some of his poetry works are El Embargue: Himno ala Flota de Magallanes, La Tragedia de San Eustaquio, El Combates: Urbiztondo, Terror de Jolo, Un Recuerdo a mi Pueblo, La Entrada Triumfa de los Reyes Catolicos en Granda, A La Juventud Filipina, A Mi Madre, Los Viejeros, Mi Retiro, and his works of novels are Noli Me Tangere, El Filibusterismo and Makimasa (which was not completed). When he went to Barcelona, he wrote the Amor Patrio, and made Dyaryong tagalong with his codename as Laong-laan. Because of his writings, Rizal provoked the hostility of those in power. This led him and his country men into trouble with the Spanish officials in his country. They were searched in every parts of the world. When the Philippine Revolution started on August 26, 1896, his enemies lost no time in pressing him down. They listed all the witnesses that led to Rizal in prison. His last work which he wrote inside his prison cell entitled “Ultimo Adios” is considered a masterpiece and a living document expressing not only the hero’s great love of country but also that of all Filipinos. After a mock trial, he was convicted of rebellion, sedition and of forming illegal association. In the cold morning of December 30, 1896, Rizal, a man whose 35 years of life had been packed with varied activities which proved that the Filipino has capacity to equal if not excel even those who treat him as a slave, was shot at Bagumbayan Field.

Andrés Bonifacio y de Castro was born to a Tagalog cabeza de barangay father namely Santiago Bonifacio and a Spanish mestiza mother, who died in tuberculosis, namely Catalina de Castro. According to some anecdotes, his father peddled canes and fans to support his family. Since his family cannot afford his school fees, his mother taught him lessons he might need in his future. Bonifacio, often rejected for being thought as an illiterate, was highly literate. He was fluent in Spanish language, thanks to his mother’s ancestry, and a passionate reader, his favorites were books on the French Revolution, The Lives of the Presidents of the United States of America, Victor Hugo's 'Les Miserables' (which he translated into Tagalog), and Jose Rizal's 'Noli me Tangere' and 'El Filibusterismo'. He also wrote various revolutionary articles, manifestos, and poems, the most famous being 'Pag-ibig sa Tinubuang Lupa'. He was a Freemason, and also joined Rizal’s La Liga Filipino, or the Spanish Philippine League, a society that called improvements in the Spanish rule, but later on was disbanded a day after their only meeting when Rizal was arrested and deported to the town of Dapitan in Mindanao. The case of the La Liga being disbanded made Bonifacio realize the uselessness of peaceful struggle for those reforms that he later on founded the underground organization that shock almost all the Spanish rulers and gave hope to every Filipino- The Katipunan. Bonifacio resolved to change history with just a single pistol in hand for a start.

As we can see, Rizal has made more successful activities compared to Bonifacio. Rizal was educated while Bonifacio was not, though he has his parents’ guidance to teach him his lessons. Both will pass as a president of the Republic of the Phillipines if given a chance, for they lead the Filipino community in a great fight. Both struggled hard to free the Philippines from the clutches of the Spanish rule. Rizal is still the rightful holder of the title, for he used his brain and pen to tell all the Filipinos never to give up. This doesn’t mean Bonifacio is useless, but let us just think like this: Without these two powerful minds, Philippines is nothing. They both contributed to the freedom of the Filipino, and the reason why there is still the country Phillipines.

  9. Eve’s Get-Up: Good Taste on Girl Clothes
    by Ma. Josephine E. Inocencio

Do you have a particular outfit in mind but you do not know how to achieve ‘the look’? Just like anywhere else, you would not know the real score about dressing up yourself and dressing up the eyes of another. It is a formidable task but it can be done. Here are some friendly and helpful hints on how to do the proper way of dressing.

First are the lists very big DONT’S in dressing.

Never wear a printed and tinted shirt with printed and shimmering pants. How would you look like? People would say, “Oh, this person has nothing to wear! So baduy!”.

Do not overdress. A simple shirt match with jeans and rubber shoes will show off your figure and definitely, simplicity will be notice.

If you are somewhat curvy, do not wear oversized pieces all over. Mix proportions.

Now you know the general rules in dressing, here are the DO’S.

Know what will be the occasion or event that you will attend. It is very improper to wear a sleeveless blouse matching with shorts and rubber shoes with net stockings in a debut, right?

If you are like a petite lady, learn to walk in high heels. They will give you the extra height. Wear mini skirts sometimes because they make legs look longer.

Skinny ladies, trash off your old fashion. Here is a new one. Play with layers to give your body extra curves. Low-rise jeans are the best because they give you a bit of butt.

Accessorize yourself with details matching with the color of you dress. Do not clutter your look with too many accessories.

Have a good hair day and consider your skin tone.

These are only some of the trends in wearing even old clothes without throwing off the clean style of clothing. Just remember that the keys for a good look and taste of a person is by being comfortable and confident everywhere. Get up girl and dress right!
